Shapeshifting
room installation, mixed media, dichroic glass, 2024
In her graduation piece Shapeshifting, Veronika Schneider presents an installative ensemble of handmade bowls of different sizes, which are no longer or only partially intact, and sets them in dialogue with mirrored glass plates. Here, the bowl becomes a metaphor for filling, preserving, giving or taking - for what connects people with their environment or their fellow human beings. It is also understood as an image for the (human, female) body, which refuses standardized functionality and is fragile or resistant. (words by Katrin Ströbel)
